J’yindae Preece is a dedicated DP1 student at Somersfield Academy, where their educational journey began at the age of 3. Over the years, they have actively participated in various school activities, demonstrating leadership and communication skills. Notably, J’yindae has had the honor of speaking on the radio twice alongside school authorities such as the principal, Mr. Teteina, and the head of secondary, Mr. Judd, showcasing their confidence and eloquence.
Their involvement in school events extends beyond radio appearances. J’yindae has spoken at the M5 moving-up ceremony, sharing their insights alongside peers like Taliah Wade. Additionally, they have contributed to the beautification of the school environment by painting the school’s bus stop and actively participating in numerous fundraisers.
Beyond their academic pursuits, J’yindae has a passion for sewing, dance, and drawing, with sewing being their primary interest. They find joy in discussing fashion and aspire to pursue formal education in this field. Their ambition is to attend a fashion school in New York, with institutions like F.I.T (The Fashion Institute of Technology) and Parsons School of Design being their top choices.
J’yindae draws inspiration from their mother, whom they consider their role model. Moreover, they are deeply committed to social causes, particularly advocating for quality education, especially in Bermuda. For J’yindae, being awarded a scholarship signifies more than just financial support; it symbolizes recognition of their embodiment of Somersfield's values and their growth as both a student and an individual over their 13-year journey at the academy.
