Riki Teteina: Somersfield's Exceptional Talent Showcased at Spring into the Arts Festival
Somersfield students truly stood out at Spring Into The Arts. The Annie cast delivered a polished and confident performance of "It’s the Hard Knock Life," Riley Jones captivated the audience with a heartfelt solo, and the M2 Band showcased their teamwork and impressive musical growth. The festival underscored the thriving performing arts programme at Somersfield.

“Having spent a good deal of my professional life teaching the visual arts, I have a keen interest in what students do. What was impressive about this show was not only the quality of the work, but also the technical variety on display. Not only was there the more traditional paintings and drawings, but also welded sculpture, ceramic sculpture, kites, printmaking (linocuts and serigraphy) and photography, to name a few.”

Heartbreak and Hope for Students Impacted by Covid-19
Lily Crofts, a student at Somersfield Academy and part of its International Baccalaureate Programme’s inaugural year group, was to have been Belle in the school production of Beauty and the Beast – until Covid-19 forced its cancellation.
Somersfield Students Empower Peers and Promote STEM in Community Projects
Somersfield students showcased their creativity and community impact through the M3 Community Project. Teams addressed various needs, including empowering girls with workshops on art, dance, and writing, and launching a VEX IQ robotics programme at West Pembroke Primary School to promote STEM learning. Their efforts highlighted Somersfield's commitment to inspiring socially conscious, independent thinkers.
Tapestry: Weaving a rich tapestry of artistic journeys
Combining the visual arts with the performing arts is not always easy, but Somersfield Academy will attempt to do just that this weekend with a special performance. The event, called Tapestry, will incorporate dance, gymnastics, visual arts, and music.
Young Students Swept by Joyful Tide of Opera
Opera, why opera? Somersfield Academy primary school parents have probably heard this question more than once in the last couple of weeks. Somersfield recently staged an opera with its primary school students as cast members. To pull off this feat they hired Sanford and Judy Jones of Savannah, Georgia who run a company called Youth Opera International out of Savannah, Georgia.
