Nico Bean '26: Somersfield Student Blends Art and Education
September 1, 2024 – Nico Bean, a DP1 student at Somersfield Academy, has taken his passion for art and transformed it into a business, partnering with The Stationery Store to launch a new line of custom-designed notebooks through his brand, Flow by Nico. His journey into entrepreneurship is rooted in his experiences as a student, particularly through the MYP Personal Project, a critical part of the IB education.
Last year, Nico’s MYP Personal Project allowed him the freedom to explore a topic of personal interest, and he chose to focus on his business. “Being a student has completely impacted my designs,” Nico shares. “The Personal Project gave me the chance to explore my passion for art, turning my paintings into custom products.”
Specializing in acrylic pour techniques, Nico’s notebooks are inspired by his one-of-a-kind artwork, blending function with creativity. His designs aim to make stationery more than just a tool—they’re meant to inspire and reflect individuality.
Now available at The Stationery Store, Nico’s work represents a unique fusion of education and creativity. His notebooks are a reflection of his growth as both a student and an artist, showing how learning and personal expression can go hand in hand.
