Somersfield Academy Gymnasts Shine at International Competition

Bermuda boys' gynmastics tea celebrate their successat the Abie

January 23, 2014 — A group of Somersfield Academy gymnasts recently made a notable impact at the Abie Grossfeld Invitational in Bridgeport, Connecticut, as part of Bermuda's gymnastics team. Competing against athletes from across the region, these talented students delivered impressive performances, bringing home multiple medals.

Among the standout performers were senior gymnasts Max Blakeney and Thomas Gesick, who earned significant accolades in their respective divisions. Blakeney, competing in the Level 6 intermediate category, secured third place in the all-around and earned a second-place finish on parallel bars. Gesick, competing at Level 5, captured gold on vault, showcasing his skill and precision. Ty Dunlop, another Somersfield gymnast, added a bronze medal in the floor exercise in the same category.

Somersfield Academy’s athletes were part of a larger team that excelled at the competition, with many also making their international debuts. Their achievements reflect the high standards and dedication fostered by the school’s gymnastics programme.
