Minister Tinée Furbert Visits Somersfield
The Hon. Tinee Furbert, Minister of Youth, Social Development, & Seniors, visited Somersfield Academy for the TOYA ZONE event, engaging with students on challenges they face. She also toured the Design Lab, where M4 students presented innovative shelter designs addressing homelessness with sustainable solutions.
Victorious Finals: U16 & O16 Netball Teams Shine in League Showdown
The U16 & O16 Netball Teams triumphed in their final league games against Saltus. The U16s dominated, winning 19-7, with MVPs Ailey H (GK) & Naomi C (GA). The O16s staged a comeback to win 13-11, led by MVPs Kennedy K (GA) & Nishika B (C). A proud moment for all, marking an emotional farewell for our DP2 players!
U13 & O13 Netball Teams Celebrate Wins Against Whitney Institute!
The U13 and O13 netball teams had impressive victories against Whitney Institute. The U13 team played a close match, winning 10-8 after a strong final quarter, with standout performances from Freida Valli, Aniah Tucker, and Evelyn Fahy. The O13 team dominated their game, winning 21-6, with Emily Paulos being named MVP.
Somersfield Academy Under-16 Netball Team Crowned Bermuda National Champions
Somersfield Academy’s Under-16 netball team are Bermuda National Champions after a strong showing at the round-robin tournament on 15 November. With victories over Saltus, Warwick, and Berkeley, and a draw against BHS, the team’s dedication paid off, marking Somersfield’s first-ever netball trophy.
Thrilling Victories: Somersfield U16 & O16 Netball Teams Triumph Over Berkeley
Somersfield’s senior netball teams scored double wins against Berkeley! The U16s dominated from start to finish with flying interceptions & epic shots. The O16s kept us on the edge of our seats, sealing a 17-16 victory in the final seconds thanks to skilled shooting & interceptions. Thank you to Debré Evans for umpiring!
Under-16 Netball Team Battles to a Thrilling Draw Against BHS
Our Under-16 netball team delivered an electrifying performance against BHS, drawing 14-14 in a suspenseful game. After a 4-4 first quarter, BHS led 5-9 by the second, but our girls stormed back to a 12-10 lead in the third. BHS scored the equaliser on the final buzzer, ending in a tie. MVPs Dezirae Darrell and Heidi Paulos stood out, and special thanks go to alumna Shi-Vaughn Lee for expertly umpiring the match.
