Thrilling Victories: Somersfield U16 & O16 Netball Teams Triumph Over Berkeley

November 6, 2024 — Our senior school netball teams both won their games against Berkeley on Wednesday, November 6!

The Under 16s lead throughout the game with the final score 15-8 thanks to MVP Diya Steede ‘28 and her incredible speed intercepting the ball and literally flying through the air and Paige Lindo ‘27 (even with an injured finger!) consistently scoring from far from the hoop. The Over 16s took an early lead in the first quarter 4-2 but then Berkeley found their stride and were 9-13 up by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Our girls played an amazing comeback in the final quarter scoring 8 goals between Zarah Siddiqi ‘26 and Kennedy Kowalski ‘25. The winning goal seconds before the final buzzer to take the win 17-16. Two MVPs: Zarah Siddiqi as GS for her consistent shooting even from a long range and Taliah Wade ‘25 as WA for her linking play in the centre and intercepting the ball in the final few seconds to secure the winning goal.

Thank you to Debré Evans for umpiring the games, we are so grateful for her time and expertise.

Thank you Roman Jones ‘26 for capturing this video of the O16 winning goal!
